In His Words: I Am the Vine
October 13th, 2024
Pastor Dustin Warford

I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.  He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.  You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.  Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.  “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. – John 15:1-5

1) The Power of Jesus
Just as a branch cannot survive, let alone bear fruit, without the vine, so too we cannot thrive spiritually without a deep, abiding connection to Jesus.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” – 2 Cor. 5:17
-As we continue to abide in Jesus, His power continually works in us, molding us more and more into His likeness.

2) Remain Connected to Jesus
“Your word is a lamp on my feet, a light for my path.” – Psalm 119:105
“Once you become aware that the main business that you are here for is to know God, most of life’s problems fall into place of their own accord.” – J.I. Packer
